Great Wolf Lodge
Several weeks ago we decided to get together with some friends and meet up at the Great Wolf Lodge in Kansas City, Kansas, for a weekend. It felt like a mini-vacation; a much-needed getaway to a warmer (albeit totally fake) climate. The kids were completely exhausted by Sunday afternoon, so after a quick lunch at Panera we drove the 15 minutes home (another good part of this "vacation") and took naps.

Sher and Ethan bathed in some strange, green glow - if you had smelled the chlorine fumes you would have thought their fluorescence was genuine. Mostly I just wanted to show what it looks like inside the waterpark.

There was an enormous bucket of water that dumped thousands of gallons of tepid water onto people below.

A view of the slides - Ethan got up the courage to try the yellow one with Phil and his "girlfriend" Lauren (that's Ethan's girlfriend, not Phil's). What must she thought of him at the top when he got scared and started heading back down? At the last minute Phil practically tossed him in the raft and set off before he could change his mind. He loved it!

The other couple we met up with, Dan and Brooke. They were the most fun we'd had in awhile!

Sheridan, Claire, and Lauren swimming.

Phil in Lazy River with the kids, which is aptly named because it would seem that you lounge in a tube while your kids do all the work.

Ethan and I in the Monitoba Tub - a family hot tub that feels just like bath water.

Sheridan trying to make it across without falling in.

Messing around and just having a good ol' silly time.

The whole crew of Kohnen/Sorrell and Frick kids: Audrey, Ethan, Lauren, Claire, Emily, and Sheridan sitting in front of the fireplace before we left. Thanks guys, we had a great time!

  1. You are so great! This blog is unbelievably cool and you are so efficient :) After the drive home, it was crash time for us and no extra movement whatsoever. We had a fantastic time and are grateful to have gotten to know you all better.

  2. What a perfect vacation! I'm wishing we were there to splash and slide with you. And, I loved your Evan stories--especially the cereal behind the couch. I have a feeling that our little boys might be fast friends!
