Old Things

Today was rainy and a little cold but I wanted to get my asparagus crowns in so the rain could water them in tonight. Planting asparagus requires spading about a foot down into the ground to loosen the dirt. Then you backfill to 6 inches, etc.

While digging over a foot into the ground in one area of the garden I turned up an "X" shaped object made of iron. Then about 2 feet to its left I hit something much heavier and pulled up some sort of tool, also made of iron. It was quite heavy and neither Phil nor I could figure out its use. They were both quite rusted and probably several decades old. There was an old farm nearby before Shawnee was developed. Can you figure these out?

The other object above is a small doll arm. CREEPY. Last fall I was digging about 15 yards to the west of my garden and flipped up this little porcelain doll arm.
I feel like maybe the rest is buried close by and will come to haunt me, begging for its arm back. I would gladly give it by the way. No argument here.

Who knows what else I will dig up? I'm kind of addicted to finding more things now. I did uncover large amounts of broken pottery near the dug-out foundation of our house last year, but it was too shattered to collect. For being a supposed former pasture, I sure have found varied and personal items. I wonder if there was a house here long, long ago?
