Creole Night, Part Deux

Well everyone loved the first Cajun theme night so much that they lobbied for a second one this weekend. Mostly it stemmed from having watched The Princess and the Frog, which takes place in New Orleans. In the movie Tiana boasts frequently of her gumbo and Sheridan asked what it was. I explained it and said I would fix it, minus the spice. She wanted to do most of the cooking so...

Here she is cleaning the crab, much to her dismay...

Peeling and cleaning the shrimp...

Cutting up the Andouille sausage. And yes that is a huge knife but she had much instruction before-hand...
So the recipe was: shrimp, crab, and sausage gumbo - I made it with the white roux, minus the spice. It was quite lovely!

After dinner antics - unfortunately the jumping-off-the-couch pictures went over well. Why not? You only live once. Holding Evan and doing this felt like jumping ship while holding a torpedo.

Just an extra picture....Evan has discovered the freedom of undressing. We should all feel so free.
He started doing it just at the end of nap or when waking up in the morning. Now he does it as soon as he gets in bed and sleeps half naked. There are usually various items of clothing outside of his crib.... shirt, socks, blankets. Next will be pants and diapers I'm afraid.
