Kicking Off Storm Season(AKA, I'm An Idiot)It is May 12th. We are
just now getting storms worth a poo. Unlike our exciting winter, it has been a very slow, boring spring; not conducive to much but disappointment.
But tonight the weather watchers in the family were busy texting our excitement and jealousy - it seems that I had the good stuff up here in NW Johnson County.

I started off kinda lame - the views are not great at our new house and I had to stand out in the yard under an umbrella to see anything. This is why I'm an idiot. Who does this stuff? Under an umbrella near an open field during a severe thunderstorm? So this is what they mean by natural selection... I'm apparently just lucky.

As it grew darker I captured more interesting shots.

Then the bright lightening got closer! The mosquitos were biting but I barely noticed... somehow both of my kneecaps got bitten by the way. (And when I came inside Sheridan had Bandaids ready for them. And warm water because she thought I'd be cold... sweetie).

This one was loud, even the mosquitos buzzed away...

Then there was this one just to my south and out of view. I call it "Armageddon". It was taken in pitch black but was bright enough to look like noon. And loud enough to cause me a mild panic attack. I didn't even look at my screen...I just picked up my camera, tripod and all, and high-tailed it outta there - I had tempted fate long enough.
Awesome pictures! I would have been standing right there with you. Love the storms! Hmmmm, what does that say about me??? lol

Peg :)
We just saw thunderclouds today and I was telling Elyse all about Momma's best friend Amy who would be a meteorologist if she wasn't a nurse! Great photos!
