WOO-HOO!

You all know by now I love to photograph lightning. Last night was one of the best storms we've had in a few years. I started outside, my tripod and me under an umbrella. The lightning flashes were getting a little too close so I moved indoors, pointed the camera to the east out our back door, and here's what I got.......

MY FAVORITE SHOT IN YEARS! You can see how close it is to our house, just over by K-7, a quarter mile away. Look how it lit up our deck and the roofs of the houses where it struck.

The air sizzled, then came the loudest crack of thunder I've ever heard. I could feel the heat while standing in the doorway. Awesome! Click on the picture to get a bigger view, it looks better.

Less impressive but very symmetrical and still pretty cool. Everything's so purple.

As the storm passed right over our house I aimed the camera straight up in the sky. So if I'm looking straight up, where are those bolts landing??? Scary.
It was a perfect stormy night other than the absence of any tornado warnings. Though tornado clouds tend to mess up really excellent lightning, so.....
