The Boy Talks

I am home with sick Evan today - high fever and cough for past 2 days. Anyway, once he gets his Motrin he's in better shape and chatters away like no one's business.

We have waited for months for Evan to start talking. We waited until Ethan was 2 before he talked a word so 18 months is good enough for us!

Finally the jabber is starting to make sense, or at least we are interpreting it better. I have learned that one word has many different meanings. For instance, "ba" can mean ball, bath, or vacuum. The intonations are different though: ball is "buh", bath is "ba" with a short a, vacuum is "baaaaaah".

Anything with wheels is "cars", except for a bus, which is "bus". Light is "la-la-la" while pointing upward.

Then of course there's "mama", "dada", and "Sis". Nothing for Ethan yet though. Oh yes, and the ever-present "uh-oh" for anything dropped by anyone.
