Introducing art and horse-riding.

Sheridan is a terrific artist for her age. She has inherited good art genes from both sides of the family - Aunt Kay, my Dad's sister; and Grandma Bettye, my maternal grandmother. Both are so talented.
So here's how art and horses tie in. Besides the visually obvious, Sheridan has started taking horse-riding lessons once a week. She is absolutely in love with her new best friend, Red, a red roan (she tells me). She loves him so much she painted a picture of him and is taking it tomorrow to hang by his stable.
I thought she might just paint him brown with a touch of red. But she said, no Mom, he has just a bit of orange in him, so she incorporated that as well.

A few weeks ago the two older kids stayed with Grandma Bettye for the day. Grandma sketched out the horses on her canvas, then Sheridan brought it home to paint. I am once again impressed that, at 8-years old, she was able to make this actually look like two distinct horses.

Sher kindly shared her precious canvas with Ethan, who was as proud as could be about his snowman he did all by himself on her easel, and with her "real" artist paints. :)
